Commercial & Sports Facilities Manager

Conrad has worked in the leisure industry for over 13 years both in the private and public sector.

Keen to develop the provision of both main stream and more niche sports to the local community within Rutland, Conrad is a keen sports enthusiast regularly enjoying football, rugby, rowing and snowboarding.

Sports Facilities Duty Manager

Sam is an experienced swimming instructor and has taught children and adults of all abilities for the past 20 years with excellent results. She has also enjoyed working with and developing the skills of children who have a physical or learning disability. Sam spends her free time competing in equestrian sports, recently achieving Midlands Indoor Carriage Driving Novice Champion.

Duty Supervisor/ Swimming Teacher

Joe has been in the fitness/leisure industry since 2016 and is a qualified personal trainer, sports massage therapist, spin, aqua, circuit and swimming instructor. Joe’s interest outside of work life include motorcycles and traveling. Joe also enjoys in his spare time DIY, archery and he loves to cook. Joe’s enjoys exercising himself and is keen to develop new skills to enable him to expand his skill set.

Duty Supervisor/ Activity Camps Instructor

Alfie has worked in the leisure and fitness industry for the last 5 years. He started off as a lifeguard before moving into several different roles within the industry such as activity camp leader and duty supervisor. In his free time he enjoys all kinds of sports but his biggest interest is following football and the team he supports; West Ham, or playing a round of golf. From a young age he has always shown a big interest in all sports and has tried to carry that interest through to where he is now.

Swimming Teacher

Lauren joined Oakham School in April 2021 as the Health, Safety and Environmental Apprentice, later training to become a swimming teacher as it has always been a passion of hers. Health and Safety is absolutely paramount when teaching children to swim, whilst still ensuring they are learning in a fun, interactive manner. Lauren thoroughly enjoys teaching Stages 1 and 2, as watching the children become more confident in the water and developing their techniques is immensely rewarding.

Jen started competitive swimming at the age of 8, achieving regional times in freestyle and backstroke, and has been a teacher at Oakham Swim School since 2018. Prior to teaching, she coached 8-13 year olds at a competitive swimming club in Leicester. Jen is going into her final year of university, where she studies Business Management and Marketing.

Having worked at Oakham School for the past two years while studying for his degree in Geology, Gary has trained to be a qualified lifeguard and is now one of our swimming teachers.  He is a previous Great British record holder for Junior Archery and over the next two years, is studying to complete his Geology masters.

Rhys has been a qualified swimming instructor for the past 2 years and enjoys watching the improvement children achieve as they move from beginner lessons to the advanced stages. Rhys is also a fully qualified Beach Lifeguard who has previously worked at open water beaches during summer seasons. Rhys is a keen sports enthusiast and enjoys swimming, rugby and diving where he competes in springboard events.

Sharon is a mum to 2 girls, 25 and 17 and step mum to 2 boys 18 and 17 she has been Swim teaching since 2009, and also became a judge for a swim club. She got into swim teaching as part of a career progression meeting as she loves working with children and seeing a child gain confidence and swim after being fearful is just so rewarding. Sharon is also nvq3 qualified in childcare and senco. Sharon also enjoys crochet, reading and cooking in her own time.

Andy has worked in water safety for 15 years as an open water lifeguard and beach lifeguard trainer at Rutland Water.

Andy is a key member of our lifeguarding team and is highly experienced in open water safety and event management.

Andy enjoys a wide range of sports and recreation including swimming, rugby and photography.
